A clever, cute, and entrepreneurial girl like you appreciates things like that? Alright.
I offered to bring some, since I know how Cordis can be. Do you have a preference? Or should I try and surprise you because they have some interesting flavors.
[What flattery, she thinks at first, and then catches herself wondering immediately after, is he flirting? That's unusual for Rohan, she muses — and then it hits her.
It's not unusual for Rohan, necessarily. It's just unusual for Rohan talking to her. Because maybe he wouldn't talk to his babysitter like that, but maybe he would for a friend of his who visibly enjoys it when it happens.
Hmmm. Now that's really something, isn't it.]
I think I want you to surprise me! And since you're being so nice about it, I can help you make up some of the chroma for it when you get here...
[ He'll take that answer, and get ready to head out. While if he were staying in, he'd dress simply in relaxed pants, and a sweatshirt during Cordis, but since he knew he'd be seen - he didn't. He makes every attempt to at least look like he tried to seem put together. He stops by the bakery first. He picks up a few baked treats - cupcakes, mostly. They're packed neatly into a boxed, a couple of red velvet - and essential flavors - strawberry, chocolate, banana, and a peanut butter one with a peanut butter up on top in the flood of icing. Was this an elaborate way to try and figure out what types of sweets he wanted to have for Reimi's birthday?
Absolutely. The best way to see what she wanted was to see what she liked from here. And since she mentioned red velvet, he was especially diligent about that. Since there's no way for him to safely carry the cupcakes with his motorcycle, he walks today. Arriving after just over an hour, he knocks on her door.
He knew it was for the best that he hadn't latched onto her immediately after their conversation. It had been a little while. It was for the best, and he damn well knew it. He took the time to really think about everything. Even when people told him he was wrong, historically, he always thought them wrong. But when she made things clear, he listened.
Rohan never really felt lonely without company, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy it. Well. Hers. And maybe a couple others. But right now, it was about her. But it had been awhile since he had really tried to get to know someone without... just cheating through it. ]
[It already feels different, having Rohan coming over to visit her in this new post-come-to-Jesus world of theirs. It takes her a while before it even occurs to her that this may be one of the first times, if not the first, that he's ever come to her instead of insisting that she come to him (because she always does, why wouldn't she), and as she does her best to get the apartment in tidy order, she starts to realize for the first time just how boring and impersonal it really is, since she'd never bothered to try to decorate it.
It casts a new light on herself, too. All this time, had she been ignoring it because it never really felt like hers to begin with? Her room at Rohan's was different, but maybe she'd settled into that more easily just because it, like her identity, was a part of something his, instead of something hers all on its own.
Regardless, it's Cordis, and her butterfly wings are back, but this time around she's at least reasonably prepared for them with a backless sweater and a pair of leggings that could only have come from the Prissy Polyp at some point or another, and when Rohan arrives at the door, she's ready and waiting to open it, cuddly-soft and smiling warmly.]
[ It's weird to him coming over, he knows it. Especially during Cordis. Especially since he's made so many efforts to never be seen during it except by her. Especially since he knows how to prepare for it, too. His tail swayed behind him, ears (standing out as a red next to his green hair) perked and alert. He is dressed nicely, a white shirt, green tie, and green pants that were altered to accommodate his tail.
It's nice to see her. His eyes drift towards the butterfly wings and he makes no attempt to hide that they caught his attention. He can't help himself. He isn't sure why but they seem to suit her.
He nods towards the box. ]
They had some flavors I hadn't seen before, so I got them, too. And of course red velvet.
[ He'll step inside after her, eyes moving back to her wings. ]
...Did you know butterflies taste with their feet?
Hey, great! It'll be fun to try them out, we can make a little party of it.
[She takes the box, popping it open so that she can regard (and let's be real, coo at) the various flavors before shutting it carefully again and shifting to go set them on her kitchen table.
Something immediately becomes clear, however, from the way she's moving: she's deliberately keeping her back angled away from Rohan, making sure not to turn and let him see the open back of her shirt where the wings are.]
When you mentioned you had butterfly wings, I read a lot about them.
[ Yeah, this is what he does. He goes out and learns what he can about things. He likes to learn about whatever he can, whenever he's inspired to do research. He is always curious. But for now, he'll drop it. He doesn't want her to be uncomfortable with his nonsense about whatever thing he decided to learn about that day.
He does notice her behavior, of course. But, he won't prod her about it right now. He doesn't want her to be uncomfortable, and he doesn't know that he needs to see anything she doesn't want to show him. He knows why she's like this, it's no mystery. But, they're working on being things separate from what they were back home.
Real friendship. ]
But yeah. Let's try them. I only really ever have a sweet tooth during Cordis, and I went there last month. I guess red velvet is one of their more popular flavors. They always have it, so if it's your favorite it can be gotten anytime.
Well, that's because red velvet is the best, obviously! The bakery knows good taste, I guess!
[That much brings a grin to her face, at least, and once she's gotten herself stationed at the table, she reaches into the box and produces a pair of cupcakes, one red velvet for herself, and one mystery flavor for Rohan.]
You know what I've never tried? I've never tried to see if I could fly with these wings. They seem like they'd be too small, right? But sometimes I wonder anyway.
[ That's all that matters. Does it compare to other red velvet cakes or cupcakes. He's sure that she'll let him know before too long. So he'll just take a bite of one of the peanut butter ones he had. He's trying to not make a mess or fuss of it when he does. So, start small, of course.
When she speaks up on the wings, he swallows it and his eyes drift right to the wings, landing on them. ]
I'd tell you that normally: I'd say that they probably wouldn't, but nothing about this place is completely normal so they just might. Have you tried yet?
[She peels off the wrapper of the cupcake, opening it up enough that she can take a big first bite — too big, in fact, because she ends up missing and getting frosting on the tip of her nose along with her mouthful of cupcake for her troubles.]
Aaah!
[She squeals, nose wrinkling as she starts to laugh, and finishes her mouthful of cupcake before sticking out her tongue like she's hoping to reach and lick the tip of her nose in order to get the frosting off.]
...I wouldn't try something like that without anyone else here. What if I fell and got hurt?
[ She's adorable, and Rohan is desperately pressing that thought into the back of his mind because he's never really thought anyone was adorable before (or attractive, personally). He objectively understands when someone is good looking - as an artist. He knows what people like, and the sorts of features that are cute in both men and women.
But she is cute to him. And he sort of wants to die. He's going to assume, right now, that this thought is because of Cordis because it's so unfamiliar to him that it has to be. His ears feel a little hot. ]
I didn't mean to climb up high. Like, off the couch or something. And if it works, try a stool or counter top.
[ His eyes fall to her nose for only a moment, and without even really thinking much of it, he reaches forward and moves his thumb over the tip of her nose. He brushes away whatever was left there. ]
There was --
[ Of course she knows, she had been going for it. ]
[Well, that was unexpected, to say the least — but, she realizes after a moment, it's probably just Cordis at work. Rohan's being a little daring, a little more willing to initiate casual contact. That certainly sounds like blue moon at work, sure.
It still makes her wrinkle her nose in an unintentionally cute way, however, just like it leaves her wondering if he's going to lick his thumb and taste the remainder. It'd be the natural thing to do, sure, but...
Well. It'd be something if he did, wouldn't it?]
Haha...thanks, I guess I just got a little excited, and wasn't careful.
[ He makes every attempt to not get caught licking the icing off of his thumb, tilting his head a little as if to hide that it's happening, but it is still kinda obvious. It's always Cordis, isn't it? Maybe part of him knows that he would probably do some of this anyway because it's not like he can actually be made to do things he doesn't want to do.
At least he's able to stop himself from saying anything. ]
That's a good sign, then. It does taste pretty good.
[ At least the icing did. He's taking his own cupcake slow because he didn't want to end up with anything on his face. ]
This one's pretty good. I think the icing is peanut butter. [ He holds it out to her. ] Want to try?
[ Yeah. He's offering to just let her try from his. ]
[Not like she's gonna object, though. She reaches for the cupcake when he offers it, taking it from him in a way that unintentionally makes their fingers brush, and she selects a section of cupcake to bite into about as successfully as she did her first.
Which is to say, she just can't keep from getting frosting all over her face.]
Mmmm! Oh, wow, that's really good too! Haha, maybe I should just accept that I'm not going to get out of this without having stuff all over my face...
[ Is all he said. There's nothing to say in regards to them sharing. Yeah, his ears are hot. His tail swishes a little, pleased. That's another annoyance for him with with the tail and the ears. They seem to betray him. Still, he watches hear, not bothering to grab another cupcake for himself.
There's a slight huff - typical of him. It's what he does when he's trying to keep himself from saying anything related to his current feelings. Then he remembers that glare that can get him to push past that reluctance and there's a moment where he feels a little bold.
He steps in a little, moving two fingers under her chin to lift her. He looks as if he's scrutinizing her, but he's otherwise quiet. There's a lean, and his lips meet near the corner of her mouth, where a bit of frosting has somehow just missed.
If she says anything, he knows he won't be able to stop himself from trying to blame it on Cordis. ]
[A soft noise escapes her as he tilts her chin up, uncertain but accepting, and for the moment that he spends looking her over, she's perfectly still. It's really something else, being on the receiving end of Rohan's attention; you never notice, until he looks at you like that, just how intense his gaze really is. Or how lovely his eyes are; there's that, too.
So she's still, watching with her breath held in her throat while he regards her, and then as he leans in to kiss away a smudge of frosting on her face.
His lips brush her face, and her eyes fall halfway closed; before she can really think about it, she tips her chin in his direction, shifting the angle of his kiss from the corner of her mouth to fall against her lips properly.]
[ Oh. Oh. It takes him a moment because that wasn't exactly his intention but even then, he doesn't pull away as quickly as his brain tells him he should. He just lets his lips linger, hand shifting from her chin to her cheek for only a moment before he pulls away. He lets his hand remain there while he works to quickly try to remain any cool he potentially had to begin with here.
Which was pretty close to none.
He leans, places a quick kiss to her forehead while he ponders if he even should say anything on that. ]
[The funny part is, she was actually fine right up until he kissed her forehead, and somehow that's what gets her to blush as red as a sunset, thrown for a loop by his unexpected tenderness. He's so sweet with her, and maybe a lot of it is Cordis, but it's definitely not the actions of someone who's perceiving them as babysitter and small child.]
It's...really good...
[She whispers. Maybe she's talking about the cupcake. Sure.]
[ He considers, and - in the end assumes she is talking about the cupcake. What else could she be talking about, after all? The blush doesn't go unnoticed. He's responsible for that, huh? Maybe it should be considered too much power.
Yeah, it is. ]
They are the best that I've found in town, too.
[ Is he saying he's tried a few? Yes. He absolutely is. He will always return to the place he likes. ]
Their desserts are really nice looking, too. Maybe I'll get a Christmas Cake from there.
