[Once Rohan is next to her, she gravitates toward his side, closing the gap of her own volition as she starts to get the box open. Somehow, she's not expecting jewelry from him, and her eyes go wide as she lifts the bracelet out, turning it over and over in her hands.]
Oh...
[Pink stones, and green. Her colors and his, and for a moment she wonders if that was intentional, before remembering that this is Rohan — of course it is.]
[ He almost doesn't want to admit that he spent so much time trying to figure out the gift but he hadn't known what to get her. But, something she had said on New Years had helped inspire him. So, the last step for her birthday was to get this gift, but he hadn't done it until just a few days ago. ]
You told me that you liked it when things have meaning, Reimi. So I found something that I felt like would have meaning.
[ He paid attention. And he knows better than to think she doesn't understand the meaning in this, so he doesn't explain. ]
[She's quiet a minute, turning the gift over in her hand one last time as she watches the stones sparkle. It's kind of funny, in a Rohan-ish sort of way. She knows he didn't do it out of competitiveness, but that'd be a pretty Rohan thing to do, even so — hear her talking about a special piece of jewelry she liked, and then setting out to give her one that's even moreso.
It's a silly thought, but it makes her smile. Yeah, that would really be an utterly Rohan thing to do, wouldn't it.]
I love it.
[She glances up at him, her expression warm.]
You should get something that matches. It can be our secret.
[ He watches her check it out. He never once considered it competitive, but it is in a way. It was his effort to give her something just as meaningful as something else she would have gotten. His eyes soften, he looks up at her, eyes shifting from her hands where she's holding the bracelet.
He keeps his attention on her. She's the reason he's over here after all. ]
Matches?
[ Wait, really? Huh. ]
So maybe some earrings or a necklace. Or a bracelet, too? Is a bracelet too straightforward, though?
[ He could wear any, honestly. And there he is, thinking almost too hard about this. ]
It would get in the way. I could do a necklace or earrings, though. Neither would get in the way. [ And, well, if he wanted to keep that out of the way, he could probably tuck a necklace under some of his shirts. He supposed it would depend on whatever he would find when he would pick something out. ]
That is silly.
[ The tone is teasing her, just a little. It doesn't even sound sincere. Because honestly? He's kind of touched that she asked. Not a feeling he'd easily admit to having, nor would he readily show, but he is. He accepts the bracelet, despite what he says. ]
Alright, for this time.
[ He'd probably do it anytime she asked, though. ]
Oh, just let me be sentimental, you big jerk. It's special, you know?
[She laughs, extending her hand once he takes the bracelet. Once he's got it, she pushes up the sleeve of her bathrobe to bare her wrist and make room for him to work.]
...I'm sorry you're stuck here in outer space instead of being back at home in Morioh. But I'm not sorry that you're here with me.
[She fidgets a moment.]
I hope we don't get separated again. I'd miss you.
[ It is special. There's a little bit of a grin, and his fingers move over the bracelet, before slipping it onto her wrist. His fingers remain there, lingering for a moment and his eyes lock onto it there now. When he looks at it, he thinks that he'd like to have something to go with it. Stupid and sentimental.
But it's what she says afterwards that makes his eyes separate from the jewelry and lock onto her. ]
Don't be sorry about that.
[ It's not like this place is all that great, with the way they push people - force changes, want intimacy for money. But, at least he can be grateful she's here. And, with her last words, his hand slips up to her cheek. That's the right thing to do, right? Plus (of course), Chroma. ]
I'd miss you, too.
[ There's much less reluctance in the words this time than there has ever been before. ]

[The way he's looking at her...maybe that's a gift in itself. That's not an expression Rohan wears often. Maybe it's one he only wears for her.]
Hey...I know this is kind of silly, but.
[She holds up the bracelet, offering it to him.]
Will you put it on me? Just the first time. I want it to be you.
